.CIUDAD DORMIDA / Nocturnal Urban Soundscape

"Ciudad Dormida" is a nocturnal urban soundscape project focused to explore the nocturnal silent life of the urban spaces, playing with the idea of the sound fantasmagories and the memory of the acoustic spaces.

Manrico Montero has made recordings of nocturnal urban spaces since the last 10 years in Mexico, USA, Southamerica and Europa.

In 2005 Manrico did a version of the project focused on the Historical Downtown of Mexico City. Through intense recording sessions and monitoring of selected acoustic spaces of the historical downtown: alleys, streets, ancient churches, and plazas, he generated a collection of more than 250 micro sound pieces, 1 minute lenght each one, dedicated to the nocturnal experience of urban acoustic spaces.

This version of the project obtain support of the FONCA (Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes) in the area of Multimedia as part of the program Jovenes Creadores 2005-2006.

Manrico Montero is currently making a version of the project dedicated to La Paz, Bolivia, in Southamerica.
